beachism is a photographic project aimed at capturing a sense of place.
Like a fish out of water, people who view the beach as a place of rest and retreat stand out compared to people who have made it part of their routine to visit daily. Colourful prints and tourist-y activities, their attire and the way they behave are all subtle clues that give away their intentions at the beach. I want to capture the jarring difference in their lifestyles from the perspective of someone who lives on the other end of Singapore and visits the beach once every 3 years.
